Quick ways to actually make some cash

Hi all, hope you're doing ok.

I recently went on a megadive looking for ways to actually make some money online that aren't complete scams or timewasters, and I found a couple of legit, easy ways that you can actually make a bit of money for a rainy day fund. I thought I'd share this on a couple of different threads on the forums for you guys and gals to check out. Please leave comments about any feedback from these offers, I'd like to know how you are finding it and if you run into any issues.

I thought given the financial crisis that the UK is in right now, having ways to make extra money easily is definitely going to help keep me above line.

  1. Monzo sign up

If you don't have an existing Monzo account or haven't heard of them, then you can get yourself either £10, £20 or £50 for signing up with someone else's referral code. The only step you have to do to get the cash is actually use your card. I went into M&S and bought a banana for 9p and got myself £20 deposited instantly into my account

Here's my referral code you can use, you need to sign up my using the link:

join.monzo.com/c/tm094q74

This offer is probably the best one to do and pass on to your friends to net you a nice bonus over time

The best part about this one is that once you have an account, you can get a referral link yourself and earn from whoever uses your link (same deal either £10, £20, or £50 if you're really lucky). I was really surprised that it actually was as easy as that.

One thing to note is that although you get sent a physical card when opening an account, you can just add your digital one to your phone and do the banana trick without having to wait for the physical card to arrive.

  1. Zopa account sign up

This one is similar to monzo, but each referral link only lasts for about 10 people. Each person who signs up using your link will net you £10, and the person signing up using the link will also get £10. I wasn't lucky enough to get a referral link when signing up, but I still got the £10 which i transferred to my revolut account instantly. You can find lots of referral links on reddit r/beermoneyuk or something similar if you search it up.

  1. Account switching

I've heard of offers from banks saying switch to us to get ££ but never really wanted to do it, I am pretty happy with my nationwide cotton socks on and didn't really want to change it up. If you're in the same boat as me, there's a really cool app called Switch Tracker on the play store / app store that lists the available switches and what you need to do to complete them.

The best way to do this hassle free and keeping your main bank account open is to open a chase account on your phone. It's super easy and basically a burner account that you will use to do the switches.

You will need to create an account, then actually create a second current account within the app. Chase don't really like it when you try switching just using your main account for some reason, but if you create a second current account in the app by literally pressing the button then it's good to go.

Some of these banks require you to deposit a certain amount e.g. £1000 which can be daunting, but there are other offers you can do first that are much easier. Some banks will require you to switch direct debits, but the Switch app has a really cool way of helping you out by allowing you to set up direct debits of £1 to them which can be switched to meet the banks criteria.

The first offer I'm doing is with TSB and all it requires is that you switch your bank account using the current account switch service (CASS, it's all laid out on the TSB bank and they'll guide you through it), wait 7 business days for the switch to take place, then use your debit card at least 5 times (guess I'll be buying 5 more bananas in single transactions) to receive £100 between the dates outlined on the Switch app.

There are currently about 4 different switch offers you can take advantage off, and as long as you have at least £1000 to move around between accounts you can do most of these. It seems scary but the money isn't lost and you have access to it at all times.

  1. Topcashback

This one is a bit meh compared to the rest but it's still useful and has it's place, basically you can earn cashback on purchases you make, but the welcome offer is pretty decent. I have my own referral code, but it isn't the best one as you will only get £10. I found one here:

becleverwithyourcash.com/TCB20

This will get you £20 when you make a purchase of at least £10 from one of their retailers, it's pretty neat if you're purchasing something you actually want, but I can't comment too much since I only did it yesterday and I'm still waiting for my purchase to register (i've heard it can take a while so don't rely on this one)

I hope this helps you peeps, please let me know how it goes for you. It's all pretty much risk free and doesn't require any money to be invested (apart from topcashback)

I earned £126 this week on vinted and so much easier... just going through my wardrobe and drawers and kitchen / living room cupboards etc..
My friend earned over £300 because she took time to visit two car boots and a dozen charity shops.. snapped up some bargains ( a few designers ) and sold for a profit.

Can you explain how Top Cashbacl actually works please? And if there is a minimum amount you have to have to withdraw it?

Thanks - been looking at these Monzo and Chase accounts. I have a Hyperjar account which is a prepaid debit card but Monzo, Chase etc. have more features. I like the opening a second switching account idea. I have accounts with quite a few banks as before switching became a thing and before we had the explosion of online only banks I opened them as a way of separating out my finances so am currently trying to close a couple of them.

I switched into Nationwide and much prefer them as they do bonuses whereas First Direct don't really give you anything so am thinking of getting rid of FD, and staying with NW which is where my bills come out from. Problem is that I am £250 overdrawn with FD (its a free facility) so I'd have to pay that back which kind of negates the switch! Though I do have savings to pay it off.

In the meantime will have a look at Monzo.
