Home contents insurance - advice please

Daughter about to move into rented flat in London and debating whether it’s worth taking out a policy - her salary is such that her monthly outgoings/expenses already stretch her financially and she has no items of real value (monetary or sentimental). Even though I’m usually pro-insurance in her case I’m inclined to thinking maybe not. Any advice, please?

Check what it would cost to replace all her clothes and shoes. They can be the expensive element.

I didn't insure the contents of my first flat because all the furniture & carpet were second hand and my clothes were very "student".

With contents it is easy to think that you don't have anything of value so it isn't worth it - but imagine standing outside the flats in your PJs and that is now everything you have and how much it would cost to quickly even just get enough to replace the toiletries, makeup, a bag, enough clothes and shoes for work, some bedding and towels etc let alone furniture and electronics. It adds up super fast if you need to do everything.
Basic contents insurance is very cheap and yes, hopefully you never need it, but this does happen to people and flats are especially vunerable to things like water leaks from upstairs bringing your ceilings down and ruining everything

Does she not have laptops, phones, tablets, jewellery etc. Will she work from home with company equipment? You don’t think you have much until someone breaks in and takes it all.

Don’t just think theft. Think house fire/burst water pipe etc if she lost everything is it worth it?

I appreciate all of your responses and make the points I needed to persuade me that she really should take out a policy! Thank you
