Credit card 0%

Anyone got an advice on getting a credit card? I haven’t had one in my own name for years and want to start building up my credit rating. Have been a secondary card holder since I married 25years ago. When my father died last year, my mother, who was in the same position, found herself with no access to credit for flights / funeral costs which was irritating and took time to sort.

my husband is the main breadwinner, I have a v part time, but salaried job which pays approx £2k per month.

I want to book some flights now, but pay for them in October when I have access to a pot of cash.

Is there a card you’d recommend? Is my income enough to get one? Or am I worrying too much about what would happen if my husband keeled over unexpectedly?! Just seems that a 0% interest card, on which I make the payments regularly would serve the two aims of sorting a credit rating and making sure I can book cheaper tix now than wait.

thanks for any intel.

MSE is always a useful resource

make sure you pay off the minimum payment each month to keep the 0%. We have often used them for flights etc, we have savings but prefer to keep them where they are earning interest.
