What to do with jewellery - specifically pearls

I was given a pearl necklace at 21 (many moons ago) and also have earrings. They are all real, but I cannot stand to wear them. I am not sure if they are fashionable or have any kind of resale value.
I don't want to sell them willy nilly because they have some sentimental value, and I would hate to devalue the gift that was given.
Does anyone have any ideas of a good place to sell them?
I also have some small diamonds (which makes me sound like I am dripping in jewels!).
I just wear very plain jewellery and having these around makes me feel uncomfortable because I cannot really appreciate them.
Also, have no one to pass them onto.

Fellows Auctioneers are specialist jewellery and gemstone sellers. They can give you an estimated valuation by email if you send them pictures and as much info as you have. I have done this, and the price seemed fair, though didn't end up selling the item.
I can't remember if they have a minimum consignment value, or their seller charges, sorry; though of course, they can advise of this...
You can also search 'pearl' in either of their current online jewellery auctions, to see if you can see anything similar to yours that might give you a bit of an idea of their value.
I am presuming from your OP that you have discounted eBay, due to not being personal enough, though apologies if I've got that wrong. I have had some success selling on eBay, but you do need to do a certain amount of research on your item to realise a fair price. If you just want them to go to a good home, a local antique jewellers if you have one might be your best bet - the price they offer will probably be lower, to allow for their resale markup.
Hope some of that's helpful!

I also inherited a pearl necklace and sold it about 15 years ago via an auctioneers for £300. My Grandma had inherited them from her aunt and thought they were worth a lot but the auctioneer explained that whilst they were incredibly valuable historically (as much as the equivalent value of a house nowadays!) they now have limited value since cultured pearls dominate the market as they are much larger and consistent in size.

I sold as mine was too small to fit my neck and had limited sentimental value. Apparently you need to wear them regularly to keep the pearls in good condition as they benefit from the natural oil from your skin and dry out and crack if not worn regularly so I felt it would do them better justice to sell to someone who may wear them.

Thanks both for your messages. I have also heard that you need to wear them. Sadly, I just can't stand them. Will look at the recommendations
