£15-20
Small engine (1 litre) and short commute plus car pool for dh. We are lucky.

I'm not in work at the mo so we fill up once a fortnight (the family car) which is £50. The small 1 litre we fill up about once a month which is about £35.

choufleur · 27/05/2008 19:41

fill one car up about once a week which costs about £40. the other car one every 10 day/2 weeks which costs about the same. neither are really big (a punto and an escort estate - which is an old banger but can't afford to replace it)

we need two cars as ds's nursery isn't in the village, dh works shifts and the public transport is bloody diabolical.

far too much money but not much choice as we have to be able to get to work.

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2008 19:41

About £10-15 (on diesel) at the moment, we have cut down a lot as its always been pootling round town and its costing too much right now, a tenner just evaporates.

We are also lucky, we dont commute to work, use public transport/walk. Use car if its raining to hard/are late!

singledadofthree · 27/05/2008 19:41

about £40 a week on 2 cars.

choufleur · 27/05/2008 19:42

glad it's crappy weather at the moment so no need to for air con (not that we can afford to put it on anyway)

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2008 19:43

Oh its 1.9litre engine - we dont fill it right up as we should as it costs too much - we do that once per month!

Hulababy · 27/05/2008 19:43

Two small cars - one petrol, one diesel.

About £50 a week. Fortunately we don't pay for the majority of it as it is paid for through DH's work since he became equity.

tegan · 27/05/2008 19:48

We don't pay for diesel as dh is a lorry driver and when he fills his lorry he fills the car at the same time and his boss pays but he did inform me that if we did have to pay it would be about £80 a week.

£10 a week

SlightlyMadSweet · 27/05/2008 20:01

£10-£15 for just my car. More if we are out and about at the weekend.

I shalln't count DP's as he us a driving instructor.

morethanyoubargainfor · 27/05/2008 20:08

Between to two cars around £80ish a week, and neither car has a big engine, they are just bog standard cars. Was a bit pissed of the other day as i had driven both cars in the same day and they both needed fuel, Total spend for that day on fuel £96

Gobbledigook · 27/05/2008 20:16

Probably £30 on mine as I fill it up about fortnightly and it costs just over £60.

Not sure about dh's - similar probably.

ja9 · 27/05/2008 20:19

a full tank probably lasts me 2 - 3 weeks and costs £50. so i guess that's about £20. i work very close to home but need to use the care for nursery runs.

dh drives 30miles to work each day. don't know what it costs him.
it frightens me that every day when i drive past the petrol station, the cost per litre has gone up by another penny

Blondilocks · 27/05/2008 20:21

About £30-£40. Only have a 1.4 but drive at least 250 miles a week for work plus any weekend trips.

MuffinMclay · 27/05/2008 20:22

At the moment £25 per week, but this is unusually low (car problems, only using one car out of two atm, essential journeys only).

Normally nearer £40-50.

Live in a rural(ish) area. 12 miles minimum round trip to go anywhere.

Dh cycles to the station (6 miles each way) rather than driving most days.
