Solicitor to sort out wills, trust, etc.

Have been meaning to sort out a will since DD was born a year ago!
Can anyone recommend a good solicitor? Or is it quite easy to set up a trust and will ourselves?

I'm in north London, but not bothered if solicitor isn't very local.

Don't do it yourselves! Solicitors make a lot of money from sorting out the mess that can happen when people do this. I would also recommend not going to a bank, as they always want to put themselves as executors and they will charge a fortune to settle your estates. If you have mirror wills without too much in the way of complications then it should be pretty cheap to set up.
No recommendations though, as our solicitor is 100s of miles away from you, sorry.

I do wills when my divorce work is a bit quiet.

You do need a solicitor to do the job properly. Any high street solicitor will have a wills & probate specialist who will normally send you a will questionnaire which you fill in, then they'll draft the will & send it to you with a covering letter explaining stuff and asking you to confirm stuff (eg people often put 2 guardians in at different addresses, which isn't practicable).

Once you're happy with the drafts they'll get you in to go over them in detail and sign them.

Should cost about £200 plus VAT for mirror wills in SE, maybe cheaper elsewhere.
