Help with mortgage

Can anyone advise please.
I was taken very ill in December last year having been on sick leave since May. I got awarded ESA that ended this May. I was told I woukd not get help with my mortgage as I had a husband in work.
He is a low earner. I have been left with permennt disability after having a large tumour removed this March . I can't walk or use a sitting wheelchair as I can't bend my legs for more than ten minutes.
I'm at the point of repossession and I find out today I coujd have has part of my mortgage interest paid. We've been paying what we can.
I am highly unlikely to return to work due to my age and the need to have a further tumour removed.
I'm trying to make a claim online. Is there anything I should know about the benefit? I think it has to come out of any equity when the house is sold..

IDK about the interest payments, but instead of repossession, would you at least get a bit of money back from one of those housebuying services? They can complete very quickly (within days) even if you're close to repossession and some pay solicitor's fees. They offer below market value but if you've got a bit of equity in the house you might get a small chunk of money back this way?
My heart goes out to you.

Speak to a debt and benefits advisor from your local CAB or other similar charity.

You are talking about support for mortgage interest.
I think it can only be paid if you claim Universal credit but could be wrong.
Why has your esa ended? If you were in the support group then it should continue indefinitely ? Are you claiming PIP ?
I would advise you to speak to CAB and also check whether you are eligible for Universal credit, as you may well be if your dh is on a low income.
I'm sorry to read what you are going through.

The esa ended after a year. I wasn't put in the support group as the hospital thought removing the tumour would work.
I have never claimed anything. I actually believed I would get better. I do get pip for my original disability (mobility not mh). I am hoping to get time to sell.

I would definitely claim UC and tell them that you have a health condition that means you can't work

Look at claiming UC. You may get a zero award initially due to your dh's earnings but the claim can stay open until you've had another work capability assessment. Hopefully this time you would be awarded LCWRA ( support group) and this will make a big difference to your claim. If you have an award of PIP daily living and your dh provides 35 hours of care to you a week then he can also claim the carers element on the claim which is an extra £200 a month on the claim. he can claim this regardless of working full time, there is no earnings limit like with carers allowance which is different. If you only have mobility then he can't get the carers element but if you think you should get daily living you can ask for the PIP claim to be looked at again if your condition has deteriorated. Hopefully once you have the UC in payment you can claim the SMI.

You should be claiming some benefits, because these so pay your National Insurance contributions towards your state pension & other benefits

If you have a spare room, you could rent this out too

Also claim PIP

Thank you.
I've had the house verbally valued with a formal viewing next week. It's gone up a huge amount.
I do get pip. I'm severely mobility impaired.
I'm happy to sell and move somewhere smaller.
