Can I claim back the married couple tax allowance?

I transferred the married couple tax allowance (£1260 pa) to DH (works FT) after Covid when my earnings and pension fell below the £12750 personal allowance. It's a tiny private pension of £103 per month. In January I turned 66 and started getting state pension too. In April the £103 dropped to £72 - turns out it's being taxed because my income is now over the personal limit. I changed the marriage allowance back to me (online) but it says this won't take effect until April next year. So it'll be about £370 I've overpaid. Not a huge amount but means a lot to me. It seems so petty to tax my tiny pension! Will I be able to claim the £370 back next tax year?
I was hanging on the phone over an hour to HMRC so I gave up. Their website doesn't say. Many thanks if you can help.

But what you have been charged will be credited to your DH?

You should have advised HMRC when your income changed in January.

You won't be able to claim it back as the higher tax allowance is still being claimed by your husband.

The point of the married couple tax allowance is that it becomes irrelevant what “you” lose/pay, because between you, you still get the benefit.

So no you can’t claim that amount back because your husband has had the benefit of it this year.

Ah OK, that makes sense - it's gone to him instead. Thank you @TheLongestJohns @IKnowAristotle @Mrsttcno1 x
