UC migration from ESA

i have received a letter saying it’s now time to migrate from ESA to UC. This is inevitable but I was just reading on the gov.uk site to understand how I will be affected and I am so confused 🫤
in the section that says ‘if you have a disability or health condition’ it says the amount you will get if you have LCW/WRA is £423.27 per month and underneath it says the amount you will get if you have LCW/WRA or ESA claim before 3 April 2017 is £158.76. Does that mean anyone who has received ESA before that date only gets 158.79 per month? Or is that on top of the 423.27. These letters and websites confuse the hell out of me. Any help welcomed, thanks!

I could be wrong but I think that's on top, I only get the £158. I started claiming with a partner who works when I was switched over.

The higher amount applies to those in the Support Group in ESA. It's actually worth more then the Support Component + EDP in ESA so people moving over are actually a bit over £20/week better off - with a caveat for those getting the SDP in ESA.

The lower rate is, effectively, a legacy in ESA. Until April 2017 if the Work Capability Assessment outcome was that you were in the Work Related Activity Group you got about £30 a week extra.

That was abolished for claims after April 2017 but remains in payment for those who qualified for it beforehand.

£158.76 is the monthly equivalent of the legacy payment in ESA now set at £36.55/week.

@Confusedmammy as ever Help to Claim are there for you if you have questions around migration:

EDIT: not for the first time I couldn't use the HtC url to insert the service name as a link.
