I’m in the support group for ESA-working?

As I said I’m in the support group for ESA and receive enhanced mobility PIP. I always thought the maximum I could earn was £20 a work. I rang DWP yesterday about change of circumstance ( not to do with my disability which is permanent) and they said I could earn £195.00
who decides whether you are at the lower or higher permitted work category?
I know they say it won’t affect your benefits but I’m wary.
has anyone any experience?

There is no lower or higher permitted work limit. I think the £195 is correct although does seem high but may have increased recently..

There is still, according to the textbooks, a lower permitted work limit of £20 which can be used indefinitely.

The higher limit, as above, can also be indefinite as long as its no more than £195/week and fewer than 16hours.

In practical purposes, for the vast majority, its £195/<16hours.

If you receive a migration notice and move to UC it may be different as there's no permitted work in UC.

I earn £20-100 per week from filling in surveys. The work you do can't contradict why you get your benefits.

Thanks. I'm a bit clearer but still don't get why some can only earn £20 per week and some £195?

Hi there .
I am in the support group too and also receive enhanced daily PIP.
I have just been offered a job working 15 hours per week. Do I need to tell anyone? I’m worried about it but when I chatted with someone from a disability charity, they said that this is perfectly fine. I am worried about it because I desperately want to work but know I can’t manage any more hours, but equally don’t want to lose my benefits as I rely on them desperately.
Also do we need to tell our employer? Again the lady I spoke to about it said we never but we do need to tell the DWP.
Any advice please.
Sorry to jump on your thread OP.

You will need to speak to ESA about this as it needs to be approved work and also needs to not exceed a certain weekly limit.

sorry for jumping in - i asked about this when I had been off work as I was in hospital, they told me at the Dwp that I couldn’t as this permitted work was for immigrants only - im now thinking that this cant be right :/ I only did 7/8 hours previously anyway. Tried to contact access to work at Dwp and they said I had to wait 30 weeks or more for help as it wasn’t a new job (im
still on the payroll as casual worker) very confused 🫤

It’s all ridiculous. The stigma is still so strong and prevalent.
it’s beyond upsetting
