Household monthly outgoings

April2018 · 04/05/2025 16:45

I'm going through a divorce and will soon run a house on one income.

Currently in large 4 bed house with gas/electric £300 per month. In the North.

How much do people pay to run a 3 bed home?
Or does anyone have a good outgoings list?

Household will be 1 adult and 2 teenagers
Income around £2100pcm.

Thank you

Great thank you.
I'm hoping to keep mortgage around £400.
Then factor in food and other needs that vary. Clothes MOT ect.

I think it will be hard to assess things like energy as I'm also a single parent, 2 teenagers in a 1930s, 4 bed in Yorkshire and my energy bill is £128 a month.
Have you looked at if you'll be entitled to any benefits (the entitled calculator is useful for that)? Because being entitled to benefits may mean reduced council tax or ability to have a fixed water bill (theres different schemes from ill health to low income), broadband discounts etc.

My income above will include wage from employment, UC and CB. Unsure if and how much child maintainance i may have.
I may increase income in the future but I'll be starting with this.

I should receive the 25% council tax reduction but not at stage to check if i could reduce any other bills. I did watch the Martin Lewis episode where he talked about this othwise I would not have know.
