I have an old small Civil Service classic pension - any public sector pension experts?

Im in a civil service job that has a pension in a local government scheme. I also have a classic pension from years ago that I can take on a reduced basis from age 50.

I am considering taking it early for various reasons. Im not sure if I can whilst still in a public sector job?

None of the pension models available online allow for these circumstances.
(The calculators don’t even allow for retirement at 50 but I am certain this was retained in my pension.)

it may not make financial sense but I’m wondering if it is even possible.

You can still take Classic Pension at 50 but it will be actuarially reduced.

My gut reaction is if you are in LGPS you should be able to take your classic pension. However, I suggest you contact MyCSP to double check.https://www.civilservicepensionscheme.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/

Yes I think it is reduced by 5% a year but still might be worth doing.

i have tried to call a couple of times and have given up waiting to get through.

Will send an email but reckon it would be easier to have a conversation.
