Elderly housebound woman has 3 fridges, none of which work. She needs a new fridge freezer, but doesn’t have any money or savings. Her cooker also doesn’t work and neither does her microwave, so she could to with some help here also.

Do the DHSS still help people, does anybody know?

Thanks everyone. I will ask the social worker if she can approach the HSF to ask for some help.

I wouldn't wait for a response from social worker.

If you have time look up local welfare for your area and apply. Applying is pretty straightforward in my area.

If she lives in a Housing association property the her HA may have a white goods fund. i worked for a HA for a short while and they were always dishing out white goods free of charge.
There are often charitable grants available from charities like friends of the elderly or local charities but they usually expect all benefits that are available to that person to be claimed. It doesn't sound like this lady i perhaps claiming all she could like Attendance allowance which then often leads to people becoming eligible for pension credit/ council tax support etc.
