ESA to Universal Credit

My adult son, with physical and learning disabilities, has been in the support group of ESA for some time. We have now received notification that he will be transferred to Universal Credit. I wonder if anyone can tell me what is likely to happen, as he would be unable to work. My fear is he will be expected to fulfil obligations that he is unable to. Could anyone give me any advice please.

You’ll need to apply for UC. As he is the support group that will transfer to LCWRA which will pay 416.19 a month. Do not hand in any fit notes. He won’t have any work commitments. He may need to visit the job center to verify his identity if he’s not able to do so online or you can ask for a home visit but this might delay the claim. If his total UC before deductions is less than his legacy benefits he’ll get transitional protection payment is he is not worse off. He will get 2 week run off of Income related ESA he can also apply for a repayable advance whilst he waits for his first UC payment which will take 5 weeks
