(inflationary) Payrise at work in 2025?

Just wondering how many employers out there are actually giving a an annual payrise in this current climate.

We're having high cost of living, increase in council tax, water rates, the usual, etc... but employers are also feeling the pinch with the NI increase and the ever increasing cost of doing business.

So how many of us are seeing an incremental rise this year at all?

I can go first, and we have just been informed of a 2.5% inflationary rise. Which i guess is better than a kick in the teeth. What about you's?

This is the exact problem with the rise in NMW- it isn't a pay rise. When services and bills go up due to the knock on effect it will be a pay cut.

This is the same for anyone though not just those on NMW. The NMW is going up 6.7% which is more than most will get and rightly so. However my employer (small family business) can’t afford to pay this and the extra NI and a rise for everyone else so at the moment they are contemplating no rise at all for everyone else.

NHS then? I will wait with baited breath for the announcement!

Ironically by the time the NHS give us a pay rise we may not even have a job. I work for an ICB so 50% of us will be gone by Xmas apparently.

(and yes I have 2 part time jobs if anyone notices my previous post about a job in a small family business)

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 21/03/2025 09:23

But why would someone take on more responsibility for an extra 50p a week

Loveduppenguin · 21/03/2025 09:38

We get 4.5%-5% every year.

TheOneWithUnagi · 21/03/2025 10:03

We got 4.5% this year, has been 3% pretty much for the past 10 years

No, Civil Service but the same process 🙈.

£5.5k bonus, unsure of pay increase. It was just under 4% for last year.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/03/2025 18:09

1.75%! I did ask for a raise before Christmas as I've taken on work over and above my JD, and am over performing. They've been considering it for so long I've found another job for 10k more ☺️

DingDingRound3 · 22/03/2025 16:46

I’ve just given my company 6% across the board.

VerySkilledFirefighter · 22/03/2025 16:47

5% in October 2024. Won’t know our 2025 pay rise until October 2025, but expecting similar.

FredaFox · 22/03/2025 16:49

No pay rise for the majority of, exceptional cases can be requested
our base rate people who are a bit above minimum wage will go up due to nmw etc
the blame of course is the ni increases which will cost x million
