Hoping that someone can explain in simple terms to me google has just added to my confusion.

What benefits are there? what’s universal credit, who is eligible for it. How is that different to PIP? I read the government are planning changes. I am lucky enough not to be on any benefits nor have I ever been. I am literally clueless. Would like to have actual understanding.
I know that some will exploit the system but that’s just like some WFH people do it’s always going to happen in various circumstances.

Universal Credit is the main one to claim if out of work or on a low household income, including towards rent, but there is also a savings limit. Child Benefit is a fixed amount per child within a high earnings limit. PIP is not means tested but dependant on assessment of day to day challenges with personal care and mobility.
