Maternity pay how to work out

Hi all,

my yearly salary before tax is about £57K
I pay student loan repayment plan 2 (UK)
my pension contributions are 8.5% although this reduces based on salary.
I also pay national insurance about £260 per month.
I currently take home around 3250k after tax.

on mat leave I will receive
90% for 6 weeks
50% + SMP for 12 weeks
SMP for 21 weeks

Leaving 3 months with no pay if take 1 year leave, which I hope to.

I am trying to work out roughly how much less I will earn for the year whilst on maternity but struggling to account for the lower tax threshold.

anyone able to help me ?

You need to calculate how much you will earn over the tax year - including how much full pay you will get before ML starts.
That will give you your total pay for the tax year - which will give you the tax liability.
NI will vary month to month. The tax will vary - and depending on where you are in the tax year, might involve rebates.
Not sure if student loans are based on monthly or annual earnings. Sorry, too old for that!

Work out your reduced pay during the first 6 weeks, next 12 weeks, then next 21 weeks. Then work out roughly what your gross pay will accordingly be in 25/26 and 26/27, and stick them in a net pay calculator like listentotaxman.com
