Hi all,

I’m sure there used to be a a thread like this. It really helped me take accountability for my spending.

So i’ll go first,
I currently have the highest debt I’ve ever had. (Apart from my mortgage) I’m an impulsive spender and literally have nothing physical to show for it. I’m paying for a lifestyle that I literally cannot afford. It’s like keeping up with the Jones’. I just want to be able to say yes to everything all the time, but look where it’s got me.

So please come and join and we’ll support one another. No judgment here.

I have 2 credit cards currently:

1st is no longer 0% - £3,308.79
2nd is 0% - £1,347.43

and I also have a 0% loan which has £2,350.00 left to pay.
Total: £7,622.00

Having debt is all too consuming. I know I’m not the only one in this situation, so please join in if you need support. This would be a great opportunity to share any money savings tips as well. 😊

You can do this Flowers

Do you have a budget?

Write down everything and give every single last pound a job whenever you get money. Rent/mortgage, food, bills, debt repayments, then the rest — always including a teeny, tiny amount of fun money. A good budget will make you feel like you got a payrise!

I changed car and due to various circumstances I had to put some money on my credit card to cover the shortfall. I now owe about 4k but I have shifted it to a 0% card. I now have 12 months to raise 4k!

You CAN do this!
As of TODAY I'm debt free after 20 or months of tackling it.
I owed:
£8000 on a CC
£1500 in an overdraft
£500on a loan
£6000 to repay on a car loan

I cut everything back to the bare minimum and my favourite method was siphoning money from my current account daily to my CC....so for example if I had £72.68 in my current account, I'd move £2.68 over to my CC. Sounds silly but it chips away if the CC debt. Also freeze CC so you can't spend on it.

Good luck - go for it!

Is there a way to tell when the last payment was made on a loan without contacting the lender?
Without going into too much detail, my ex told me that a debt was paid off. Today I found out that it isn't and that it has been sent to a new collection agency.
We have been separated a year and this is the first time that I have had any communication about it.
I don't know whether there was anything before we separated as he was hiding my post.
