Hi, is there anyone on here who can help me do a mandatory reconsideration for PIP? I have called scope and they can’t help until next week. I would rather get it started now & also speak to them next week too.

it’s pretty urgent

many thanks

How much time have you got left to do the MR?

Date on the decision letter is 12/02/25

so I believe we have until 11/03/25

Have you got the PIP assessor's report? If not, the first thing you need to do is to phone DWP and ask for that. It's a lot more detailed than the decision maker's report you get alongside the decision, and should explain their rationale for the decision.

Once you've got this, you can go through pointing out, for each descriptor, where the assessor got things wrong. If you don't have the assessor's report yet, you should be able to start getting your thoughts together for this, based on the decision maker's report you've already got.

Getting started on this should put you in good stead for your session with Scope, next week.

Thank you, I’ve requested this from them now. So hoping it will be here very soon. Also will get started from our end ahead of meeting scope.

I was advised by a member of scope to also see my partners GP and request a letter stating how his health affects his mobility and day to day tasks. He’s got an appointment booked next week, I forgot to ask if I should write a letter and the Dr sign it and add notes if need be or does a Dr just write the letter. Again haven’t had to do this before so I’m abit clueless.

I suspect that the answer for that will depend, very much on your GP. I would suggest writing some bullet points of things which you think should be covered, which your partner can give his GP, rather than drafting the actual letter. It could also be good for you to write your own letter, describing how your partner's health affects him and the support you, or others, have to give him (tying it into the PIP descriptors, where possible).
