PIP decision

Hi, I needed to get some advice. My parter has been on pip for 3.5years and recently had a call to renew the claim. However we got the decision letter through the post that he is no longer eligible for pip and i don’t know where to go from here.

Their decision that’s written all seems wrong and nothing to what we said on the phone how his health condition affects him. We have a motorbility vehicle too & now this will affect that.

his health has actually worsened since he first claimed in 2021 so I really don’t understand the outcome.

can anyone advice how this will now effect the vehicle and if I do a mandatory reconsideration do we keep the car until it’s decided? As this is really going to effect him in a whole loss of money which helps with his needs and also the vehicle.

Do the mandatory reconsideration. If that doesn’t work go to tribunal (you have to do the mandatory reconsideration first). Tribunals have a success rate of 75%

Talk to motability about whether they need the car back right away - at one point they would allow you to hang onto it for a bit while disputing the decision

Yep same as pp, straight back at them for a mandatory reconsideration and then go to a tribunal.

I'm so sorry you're have to go through the added stress, the system is garbage and doesn't work properly.

I'm pretty sure you can hold onto the car for about 8 weeks after payments stop.

I would have thought that nothing would change until the final appeal and decision.
I work full time and get full PIP.

Contact your local MP and ask for their assistance.

SCOPE will help with with madentary..and if that fails then the tribunal. Even accompanying you to the tribunal. It's free.. but they ask for a donation if you're successful. They know their stuff and have very high results. I'm on PIP for life . I used to volunteer with them.

Does anyone know from experience do they take the car back while a mandatory reconsideration is taking place or if it’s goes to tribunal?

Thank you. I will call scope tomorrow and make an appointment to go and see them with my partner. I’m in absolute panic as I don’t know what we’re going to do if they just take the car & of course the money has stopped which really helps him with his extra needs.
