Sticks and shares ISA or high interest saving?

Starting saving for my child's future - got £1000 to start it off. Not expecting to touch it for 12 years. Should I go stocks and shares ISA or a high interest savings account?

I will be paying in at £50 a month from now.

Stocks and shares ISA win every time.

In exactly the same position (1k start and 50 per month) I've gone stocks and shares ISA.

I’ve also gone stocks and shares ISA, but when I see the same amount in my husbands cash ISA far outperforming my S&S ISA, my trust that I’ve made the right decision is shaken.

But after ten years I should win out! Particularly if interest rates keep dropping…

stocks and shares for long-term growth.

Definitely Stocks and Shares if you are happy to leave it alone long term. The growth can vastly outstrip a fixed interest rate account, though obviously the usual caveat of you can lose as well as gain.

Looking at my S&S ISA, opened in Jan 2020 (I’ve got great timing haven’t I 🙄) it has grown at almost 30% in those 5 years.
