My husband and I are both in our 50s.. We are 6 years away from owning our house. Son is 18. Ideally would like him to inherit the family home eventually.... I'm worried if one of us needs to go into a care home how would it be financed? I heard you can put the house in trust to protect the house but I'm not sure how it works.. Can anyone give advice? Thx

We are all falling over ourselves to pay your care home fees.
And I'm sure no one else wants their children to inherit their property.

The only option I know is to own the house as tenants in common and write wills leaving your 50% to your DC and a lifetime interest for your DH. Make sure you set out that DH can downsize etc.

You need a STEP solicitor to make sure you understand pros and cons.
