Enhanced maternity pay with switch from part to full time

Hoping for any views/experience/advice

I am currently working reduced hours (4days per week) since returning from maternity leave. I am pregnant again and due 21 July. For various reasons I plan to return to 5 days (full time) from March.

my company offer enhanced maternity pay where I would get 3 months full pay, then statutory

It may be company dependent, but I am trying to figure out if I should get my 5 day full time salary in that 3 months period.

I could ask my HR team but for various reasons I have not yet notified my employer of the pregnancy (upcoming annual review in Feb) and I want to keep it quiet until I have clarity on my role/progression within the company.

hoping someone else may have similar expedite to share

Check your maternity policy, theres normally a cut off date - at my work its your salary at 15 weeks that is classed as your maternity salary

I'd definitely check this out. I was offered enhanced maternity pay but had to return after 12 weeks. I refused it. I wasn't up for going back so soon and took holidays then mat leave and more holidays xxx

It should be described in your employers maternity policy. Our policy states that the Contractual Maternity Pay is a top up of SMP to average salary during the two pay periods prior to Qualifying Week, which I think is the same calculation used for SMP.

It should all be in the policy!

Thanks all! I checked our policy and it doesn’t mention anything around this, I had a confidential chat with HR about it and they said it would just be taken from the earnings before I go on mat leave.. I’m not at a very large business so maybe the policies aren’t quite as developed, but hopefully hr is correct
