UK National Insurance Credits from NZ/Australia

I live in the UK. I need 35 qualifying years of UK National Insurance to get full state pension but my first 5 work years are missing because my they were in Australia and NZ.

I've read there might be some agreements between the countries that could allow me to credit those years to the UK? Has anyone done this??

At the moment I'm getting the runaround - I phoned the relevant department in the UK, the told me to phone NZ, then I phoned NZ they told me to phone UK...

Some questions for you first to help determine if this is a battle worth fighting, as it would be unusual to have to have every working age year filled in order to reach the maximum pension amount.

Areyou sure that you need 35 years ? (Were you born this century ? If not then you'll fall under transitional rules and may need more or less)
Can you see your state pension forecast ? Check your State Pension forecast - GOV.UK .
If so, what does it say in terms of how much you have so far and how many more years you need to reach the maximum ?
Are you working in the UK at present ? How long do you think you will continue to do so ?

I'm not sure if this gov.uk page is relevant as it is referring to a different scenario, where people retire abroad, but it does suggest that there is no reciprocal social security agreement between Australia and the UK, only between NZ and the UK.

@P00hsticks thank you! I totally missed the bit on my forecast that told me the number of extra years I need. Turns out I only need 28 in total. I have some payable gaps and also hopefully enough time in my future to get to 28. So you've rightly pointed out this might not be worth pursuing given I'll have trouble finding any of my old paperwork.
