Just wondering what other people have done to save for their childrens future if they have been able to, that may bring a better return than premium bonds (where we currently have started a saving for our toddler).
My parents never saved for us and couldnt help with uni costs or getting on the ladder etc, not expecting them to of course but as a 30 something in high cost of living area I'd like to safeguard my son's future as much as I can and a little nest egg when he's grown would be great. I am slightly clueless about the best place to do it however, and was just hoping to get an idea of what other people have done that worked well :)

Open a stocks and shares ISA and have standing order to put a little bit in each month and top it up when you have some spare cash.

Do not open a Junior ISA or anything in their name, keep it in your own.
