I have been repaying a budgeting loan £10/month for universal credit . I've just checked my statement and this month they've take £98 which is really going to put me in financial hardship. Does anyone have any advice ? I was given no notice at all.

Thanks

What does it say on your statement?
Is it ‘other dept for benefit recovery?’ If so, need to speak to debt mgt and try to lower it

Has your income gone up at all? Also how long have you had the loan for?

Thanks for your reply - It says 'Tax credits recovery'. As I say I used to to pay £10/ month and they have just put it up with out informing me. I have also just spoken to my ex partner who I was with when the overpayment was made and they stated they paid the full balance of £1700 last year due to inheritance. I have a good relationship with my ex as we co-parent so they have no reason to lie. I just don't know what's going on

Thanks for your reply. no my income has remained the same. It was from a crisis loan over 10 years ago when I was with my ex. They have just informed me today that they paid this off last year. At the very least I could do with some of what they have taken from me this month crediting back to me or I am going to struggle.

Did you have a repayment plan in place for a set amount of months that’s expired?
If it’s tax credits recovery, you’ll need to ring debt mgt

Yes I've had it place for long time and never really noticed as the amount is so minimal. Thanks for providing me with number I shall call them after work. Just hoping they can credit something back to me this month... otherwise it's going to be a struggle. Thanks again.
