Can someone please explain state pension? Do you need 30 or 35 years NI contributions for full state pension? I am trying to check my records but It says they can’t verify my identity.

DH has only contributed 23 years in the UK so far; however the records shows he only need 4 more years contributions for full state pension before he reaches 67.

35 years for a full state pension. If you have 30 years, you'll receive a percentage.

If you are a couple of years short, you can purchase missing years. Check www.gov.uk

Where else has your DH worked? Some of that might count towards UK state pension under the tax treaty

That's only true for people who's NI record Started after 2016. Anyone that has worked and paid NI before 2016 could need more or less years. Much will depend on whether or not they were contracted out at any point.

I agree - there's no hard and fast figure for anyone with any NI prior to 6th April 2016, it will depend on their individual circumstances.

If you can't prove your identity to get a government gateway login to get an online forecast I think you can phone up the Future Pension Service to find out
