Basic money management influencers?

Does anyone here follow anyone who advises on managing your money or building wealth? I have been listening to Mark Tilbury, interesting, but wondering if there's anything else as well.

Martin Lewis is of course good. Perhaps a little complex and busy for me though. I'm looking for simple as I have so little time and energy.

Interested if anyone here follows anyone and can recommend. Thanks

Dave Ramsey?

Silvertulips · 29/12/2024 00:32

I’ve seen Dave Ramsey he’s all about debt management rather than building wealth - not advice on how to get the best from your money.

Damien talks money on you tube is the best. Really easy to understand

Both of those sound good, thanks :-)

Not an influencer as such but a certified IFA so reliable, especially as he spends a lot of time saying most people don't need an IFA, just the right basic knowledge.

Pete Matthew and the Meaningful Money podcast. There's also a website and YouTube channel.

The best place to start would be season 25 which discusses the financial flow chart in detail so goes through a to do list of how to manage your money in a sensible order.

Just read a lot around the subject and pick the bits that fit your situation. There is no perfect person that you should follow, no one is exactly in your position. Are you looking at budgeting, savings, investments, retirement, buying property, moving abroad, private schools? Are you struggling with cash flow, property rich, cash poor, or on benefits? And only you know how risk averse you are when it comes to investments. There is a huge amount of information out there you need to hone in on what your needs are, it's time well spent, taking advice from a stranger on the internet (however well intentioned) is not as good as understanding things yourself and making informed decisions.

By all means read all the financial advice people, but take it all with a pinch of salt.

I love My Rich BFF - she's US based so not everything is relevant over here, but she often talks about the bigger picture instead of saving the pennies, and lots of her advice makes sense here too.

Her First 100k - ditto being US based but still good information/advice.

In the UK I also follow: The Savvy Spender, Clare Seal (previously My Frugal Year) and Go Fund Yourself. The first 2 are more budgeting tips/hacks, but touch on savings and wealth building. The third is basically a blog/advice column with lots of stories of how people have faced their finances.

All the above is Instagram. I'm also part of a FB group 'R29 UK Money Diary' which is an incredible pot of knowledge for people asking money/finance/career questions and getting fab answers. I never actually have asked a question, but I read lots of the comments and have learnt ALOT. The group is built for readers of Refinery 29s Money Diaries, which are weekly diaries of a UK woman sharing what she spends/saves in a week (I'm nosey and love reading them! But they are also useful and fun to read to get an idea of where other people are in life/which roads they are taking. Lots of quite wealthy people on there/people doing FIRE etc)
