Any recommendations for savings pots please? Ideally an app that will let me have a few for holidays, home, car insurance, birthdays etc. trying to be better with money!

I quite like Monzo :)

Oo thanks! Silly question but do you use it as your main current account? I've tried apps that pull your data (Emma and plum) but don't like the monthly fee to have pots - defeats the object of saving for me haha!

Yes Monzo for this, I use it as a day to day spending/low level savings account and the pots are excellent. All bills etc come out of a 'proper' bank account Grin

I'm the same as @TokyoSushi . I use it as a small spending account. They also have had good saving pots as well such as instant access ISAs with good interest rates. I have found the pots really useful. You can schedule money to be pulled into and out of them as well and you can have loads of pots!

I like Monzo round up as well! It rounds up any total spent and puts it into your savings. Feels like you're not saving any money but quickly adds up each month :)

Starling is good for this. Doesn't have to be your main current account.

hamsandyams · 27/12/2024 23:42

I use Chase for this. It has cash back and decent interest rates too.

Cantthinkofonenow · 27/12/2024 23:43

Echoing everyone else, but I only use Monzo now. You can create saving pots and it automatically puts money into savings for you. It’s the best

This is really good to know about using it as a spending / saving pot account. Ill have a look in to it. Do do you just transfer a set amount of money to the monzo pots each month? And I don't suppose if any knows if other people can transfer in to the pots aswell?! Hubby and I are thinking of having a Christmas/birthday pot for DS. I'll be starting off low with all savings because I'm bloody awful with money but need to start somewhere 🤣

I used to like Starling for this but they're stopping paying interest on the main account, and now have a separate savings account which pays interest but doesn't have pots. I save over the year for Christmas, self assessment, holidays etc, I want to be able to keep them separate so need to find a new solution.

Zopa is quite good. You can have specific pots etc
