Lasting power of attorney - who do you make the 'certificate provider'?

I'm in my 50s and trying to set up a power of attorney for my kids (as i'm a single parent).

I'm half way through the application and have to nominate a certificate provider who is meant to be a professional like a doctor or a solicitor and can't be related to me or the kids.

I was going to make it a friend of mine (not a professional) but I think it needs to be a professional. What do other people do? I can't see the NHS GP doing this. Should I just pick a solicitor that I've worked with before?

It doesn't have to be a professional, I used a long standing friend for mine..

As mentioned it doesn't need to be a professional but someone who understands what a LPA is and feels confident you understand and haven't been coerced into it.
We used my Mum's neighbour...she just happened to be a Clinical Psychologist but that was a moot point really.

Thanks all, that's super helpful - I will ask a friend of mine
