This is probably a bit woe is me but am feeling so fed up about saving for a deposit. We have managed to save 10k this year whilst renting I thought that for a property around 150k (I'm in Glasgow, Scotland) a 15k for 10% deposit and maybe 5k for offers over which would probably be the end of next year.
How very wrong I was ... my nephew who has been saving for years has just bought a flat which was advertised for offers over 95k valued at 105k. House went to closing and his offer was accepted at 122k. He wasn't the highest bidder but the accepted his offer due to being not far off the highest except and having the advantage of not being in a chain.
For a house in my area of 150/160k I'm going to need 20k over and 15k deposit. This is going to be years more of saving (and praying no big expenses come along) with no holidays and scrimping the flat that I rent from the council is in desperate need of an overhaul probably ripped right back to the plaster which for the full thing will cost a fortune.
I'm fed up, I'm wondering if I just pack it in as I'm never going to get there and use the 10k to decorate my property (plastering, new flooring etc ) making it at least a nice place to live and accept my lot or keep going and hope that one day I'll eventually get there ðŸ˜
