Hi everyone this is a bit of a random one but I know uc are doing reviews for everyone eventually and I have no issue with this but just wanted to clarify re. Housing element
me and my partner are on a joint claim, he works full time and I am a full time carer for our child who is disabled.
our rent is due at the start of the month when my partner is paid his wages, so he pays the rent in full. Our uc is paid in the middle of the month and they include housing costs, (not the full amount as they can only pay us the LHA rate) however my partners wages get deducted from our statement as a whole anyway. Therefor our uc housing element is pretty much either deducted because of my partners wages or we class the money that would be used on rent from uc as reimbursing the rent my partner pays, and so our uc is used for council tax, gas and electric and water and food shopping.
when uc do eventually do our review, do you think they would have a problem with my partner paying the rent instead of it coming directly out of our uc? As our uc doesn’t pay enough to cover all of the bills including rent regardless and just wanted to double check that we’re not doing anything wrong by paying our bills this way
any advice would be appreciated , thanks :)
