Hi, can anyone recommend a bank that only requires pay slips so not a contract of employment for a new application please

I’m not sure you’ll find any lender who would do this. They need to know if you are permanent etc

Speak to a mortgage broker

WhatMe123 · 30/11/2024 15:22

I've never had to hand a contract in been with hsbc, Santander, Halifax

mitogoshigg · 30/11/2024 15:25

Nothing was required when we borrowed from Santander but we only borrowed 28% ltv and it was only 1.2x income.

If you are borrowing over 75% typically they need more evidence

I've never been asked by NatWest to show a contract. Just 3 months of payslips.

A mortgage broker will be able to help you get the best deal as well as knowing which lenders want what.

Littletreefrog · 30/11/2024 17:58

I e never been asked for employment contract. Just last 3 months payslips and bank statements.

Jmaho · 30/11/2024 18:04

I'm an Underwriter and we'd only ask for a contract for a new job. Intrigued as to why its a problem with supplying one though....

Dondons1969 · 30/11/2024 19:51

Jmaho .. theres no issue really, my partner started a new job through an agency and his contract states temporary so just showing payslips is the better scenario

So has the bank actually asked for an employment contract or did you just think that they would? I would go to a broker if possible, we have found it really helpful and a lot less stressful than when we have bought without a mortgage broker in the past.

Yes we are going to use a broker, it certainly reduces the stress levels

If his contract says temp when it's not then ask them to change it, and if it's actually temporary then are you 100% sure you can afford the mortgage on one income when it's over?

Jmaho · 30/11/2024 21:14

As long as when you complete the application you state his employment is temporary then there won't be a problem. Some lenders may not lend
It sounds as though you're trying to avoid disclosing it's temporary. Don't go down that road

We used Nationwide and Santander who only needed one month of bank statements and one payslip. Which helped when my husband earnt a different amount each month. The broker knew which ones would require less stuff to make it easier.
