Car finance help - car has been nothing but issues

I’ve had my car for around 1.5 years now on finance (PCP)

So far it has had leaking valves on 3 of the wheels, faulty TPS monitoring system, aircon needed regassed, it has an awful squeal coming from the suspension and brakes which has been looked at multiple times, discs and pads replaced even though they didn’t need it to try fix the squeal, bushes replaced all sorts. Still squeals.

This morning when I went to take my son to school the car wouldn’t start, dash was going crazy flashing all sorts of warnings including brake system failure and key card not recognised (I replaced the battery last week so I know it’s not the fob battery). So I’m stuck with a dead car.

Im utterly stressed with it all, I’m a single mum and the cost of all of these repairs has been astronomical. I can’t afford to pay anything else, I have blown through most of my savings paying for repairs (and to add insult I’ve also had two punctured tyres which I know can’t be helped but on top of everything else I’m starting to believe the bloody thing is cursed 😭)

I still owe 12000 on the finance and webuyanycar has valued it at 9000 but it will definitely be less than that because of all the faults.

What do I do? My monthly payments are already £250 a month for a 69 plate Renault Clio, I can’t afford to buy another car or pay the remaining finance as I’ve got no savings left or spare money per month to get a loan.

Does anyone have any ideas? I honestly feel unwell with the stress 😩

What car is it?

It’s a 69 plate Renault Clio, just like it says in the OP.

Sorry pressed post

Whatever car it is have a look at online forums/facebook groups for that car and see if any of them have had similar faults

Check what your insurance covers for faults

You could sell the car and get a loan if possible for the deficit

Or you can trade that one in for another car on PCP (not sure if you can swop for finance option) and add the deficit into your monthly payments for exhale £3000 deficit over 48 months would be another £62.5 on top of your current payment if at all a manageable.

If you can prove any of the fault were there at the point of sale you could have a case but it's been 1.5 years so that would be hard to prove

Thank you for your advice, things are exceptionally tight money wise at the moment so paying and more out monthly than I already do so I don’t really know what to do.

I’ve got nothing I can cancel, we don’t pay for anything like Netflix or any little extras as things are already so tight. And obviously Christmas is around the corner.

It has had issues starting in the cold since I got it but it’s always managed to start so I don’t think I’d be able to prove that, it’s just a nightmare!

Quick google of your car and starting up when it's cold says

Charge the battery: Use a trickle charger to charge the battery

Check the battery: Use a multimeter or battery tester to check the battery's charge level. If the charge is low, you might need to replace the battery

So could be a battery problem. If it is you can buy the battery yourself from eBay which will be a lot cheaper than getting a garage to order one and then take it to a garage to be fitted. That way will reduce your cost as money is tight. Also on eBay you can use PayPal pay in 3 or PayPal credit so you pay nothing and I believe it's 4 months usually interest free

Even though you've had a new battery you may need to disconnect it and reconnect even though it's a new one. Honestly cars are money pits

Just checked the cost of spark plugs for your car and they aren't expensive so that may be something if it's 100 percent not the battery.
