Will reporting a change of circumstances put my Pip in jeopardy?

I have been on chemo on and off for two years and the side effects have got progressively worse. I am off sick from work and home to go back eventually in an adapted role.

One year ago I was awarded minimum daily living PIP and it has been so helpful and I’m very grateful. Recently things have gone down hill especially with my neuropathy I can hardly feel my feet and it’s going up my leg. It’s knocked my confidence. I’ve fallen once in the street and two days ago down five stairs when I lost my footing. I have also just been awarded a freedom travel pass after being face to face assessed by an OT. I can hardly cook for myself as I keep burning or I can’t grab things and break plates and cups all the time.

i don’t know would it be grabby to ask for a change of circumstances? The money would go towards a good cleaner once a week or towards the twice weekly taxis I gave to get.

I know there is a chance they could even reduce it which woukd be awful. My cancer nurse and doctor both say to go for it. So does my social worker friend. My ssp has stopped. What do you all think if you have experience in this area?

Well it is in a way as I haven’t head one thing. I’m also in hospital at the moment and I have a care package in place for when I get home so I really am ready for anything they might throw at me 😀

So the assessor rang this morning and said my paperwork was all in order and she could see that my health has got worse so she only had one or two questions to ask me and that she would be sending the report straight back to DWP. I wonder how long this next bit will take?

With new applications, I'm finding it takes 4-6 weeks from the assessor's report to the client getting a decision.

I'd expect a worsening condition to take about the same.

Fingers crossed for a good result, OP.

Took less than two weeks recently after the hcp assessment for my sons renewal to come through. Yours sounds positive

EachandEveryone · 22/02/2025 05:15

I got the text from DWP saying they have it back and it will be done within six weeks. Fingers crossed.

@EachandEveryone if you're short of NI for the state pension you can claim 'credits only' ESA to get your 'stamp'. You may need to do a bit of digging to find somebody who understands credits only claims but they're a real thing!!

EachandEveryone · 22/02/2025 15:16

I think I’ve got that as they sent me a letter saying that they have reassessed my incomings and I can now get esa credits £36 a week and sure enough in my work pay today I got £150 nothing from my actual work though. I must download the pay slip.

Well I got it!😀😀 I’m not sure what as I can’t work it out it says it’s £1,600 this month which is backdated from December I was getting the basic allowance for daily living. This is a weight off my shoulders I can’t tell you how much, now I can get someone in to help me and all sorts of stuff.

good luck anyone that is applying x

Well done, glad you went for it. It was obvious from your post your health had deteriorated. Now you can get some help in.

EachandEveryone · 14/03/2025 07:05

Yes it’s such a weight off my shoulders let’s just hope the government don’t mess with it!
