we had a snow today and i kept my temperature at 17 degree from more than 32 hours , house is really cosy; never did this before. Not sure how much bill this will amount to? new build house over 2 years old but is a big four bed house. i dont have smart meter reader inside the house, though my bill says i have smart meter.

Surely only a couple of pounds? If it's a new build you probably have proper insulation and double glazing, no?

Do you need to heat all four bedrooms? You can also turn off the heaters in the hall/landing and just be sure to keep the doors of the rooms you want to heat closed. 17 degrees is not a crazy temperature to want to live at. It's a couple of degrees lower than most would be comfortable at.

However you are with, order your smart meter unit so you can see your bill. You can probably see online too, what you have used yesterday and today, if you have a smart meter.

Look on the app for your provider, you should be able to see your usage, mine costs just under £2 a day including the standing charge for heating on all day which I'm quite happy with and think is a fair price, and is quite bargainous really as I dry the clothes on an airer mostly, If I use the tumble dryer it costs £4 a day. My home is smaller than yours but it won't be a massive bill, I would heat downstairs during the day and upstairs before you go to bed.

i'm downloading the app so hopefully can see the usage. House is insulated , double glazed etc but we have so many windows and temp drops quickly

You didn’t ‘keep the heating on’ for all that time, the boiler would have been modulating on and off, it was on for perhaps 15 mins per hour to keep the set temperature. It’s more efficient than letting the house cool then whacking the heating up to 22° ( looking at you DD) .
