I used the MSE one but I don't get on with it as I can't use it 'on the go'. I'm not very good at sticking to my own rules around keeping to budgets and (I'm embarrassed to say) I can be a bit impulsive.

Any advice or app recommendations greatly appreciated.

I use Monzo. It works well for me

YNAB is the only thing that has worked for me. Allocate the money to categories then log all transactions under relevant categories. It keeps me on track

YNAB has been life changing for me. You do need to learn the method (watch a few YouTube videos and the Facebook groups are helpful) and commit to updating it, but there’s really nothing like it. I have ADHD and can also be an impulse spender, and whilst it obviously can’t cure that I do now feel more in control of money than I ever have in my life.

Another vote for YNAB. It cost about £90 a year though but I find it's worth it

YNAB

I've found it hard to stick to budgets for supermarket spending so I ended up putting together a simple app that helps you track where your food shop money’s actually going (like basics vs treats, etc.). You can scan receipts (only a few supermarkets supported so far) and it's free to try if it's helpful: https://www.real-food-budget.com

Still improving it bit by bit, so I'd love any feedback if you give it a go!
