Hi
Please can anyone help me clarify.

The amount we pay tax above is our salary minus our pension? I believe I am understanding this to be correct but am unsure I am doing it correctly!

Does anyone know if you've paid a tax charge in previous years incorrectly you can claim it back? I was basing it on salary before pension and tax!

Thank you

Call hmrc and ask, to be on the safe side.

Under the previous system before the thresholds changed, I thought you had to declare pension etc when you fill in the tax return? They then use this to calculate if you're entitled to CB or if you need to repay.
If you're close to the thresholds it's perhaps possible you shouldn't have paid it.

Thank you. Yes I will give them a call to check too!

It's easier once you hit the threshold to complete a self assessment.

You don‘t deduct tax, only pension contributions.
