partners impact on my credit score/worthiness

Hi,

I am about to apply for a 0% credit card. I have an excellent credit score as an individual. Very low levels of well managed debt. My partner has some debt issues at the moment - missed and late payments. Thankfully no defaults and/or CCJ's. We have a joint mortgage and a joint account ( both of which are 100% up to date) so we are financially associates.

Will I be declined for my 0% card? Does anyone have any experience of applying for credit when your partner/spouse has a poor credit score?

Thanks in advance folks

It's hard to say have you checked your score with one of the many credit checking score sites? I use Credit Karma.

As you have a joint mortgage your partner will be linked so there may be some impact on your score.

On moneysupermarket you can do an eligibility calculator that will give the percentage chance of being approved for different credit card. Then you will know who your more likely to get approved by.

I expect it will vary across different lenders.
