Civil service dependents pension payments

Does anybody know how the civil service dependent's pension works? Is the money paid in a lump sum? Monthly? Is it backdated to the date of death? It's the alpha scheme if that makes a difference. Thank you.

I received a letter last week outlining figures and next steps. I had to choose an option regarding the McCloud remedy. They will release the dependents pension for Dd once they have processed my return form. It's great to finally have things moving.

So glad it’s moving! Good luck x
