PIP

Hi, I have put a claim in for PIP on the 31/07. Had a telephone assessment on the 04/09 and had a letter a few weeks ago stating they had everything they needed to make a decision. I've uploaded evidence, my assessment was just under 2 hours and I believe they contacted my health professional.

I got a letter to say "please do not contact us there's no need" but I did phone 2 weeks ago and spoke to a gentleman to explain that my I'm on nil pay in work now and have been since 01/10. I explained the wait is making me anxious as SSP won't even cover my rent.

I spoke to another gentleman this week who did say he doesn't know what's taking so long as everything looked fine on my application and the good news was that they have everything they need. Which I already knew.

I know that there are loads of people in my position and of course don't for a second think I should be prioritised or anything I was just wondering how long people had waited?

My review paperwork went back in January, I was getting a text every 3 months saying it was still being processed.
I received a letter today telling me that due to delays the PIP has been extended to December 2025.

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread. I'd definitely appeal.

You need to look at the reasons it's been declined and go through it step by step.

Do you have any more evidence you can supply? Go though each point and see what evidence you have/sent to support it.

How many points do you think you should have?

Benefits and work have a really good guide - it's around 20 pounds for the year but worth it or A1benefits on fb has free guides.

A written MR is always better than one over the phone as you can dispute each point in turn and supply or resupply evidence to back it up.

Do you have a consultant that would write a supporting letter, and do you have a copy of your drs notes - these can be obtained free under gdpr. There may be useful details you can use to confirm your condition and how it effects you.

You need to ask them for the assessors report and then do a mandatory reconsideration. Go through each activity and look at where you think that you should have been awarded points and reference the evidence you have. If it’s still a no the.n tribunal would be next step.

if you’ve been working for the last few years then it’s also worth looking at applying for New Style ESA (previously known as contribution based ESA).

if you got no points, did you state that you needed help with the tasks that are stated on the form? Do you need help showering / toilet needs / finance etc? If you do, but have zero points then perhaps it’s the way you answered the questions. If you don’t need help with the tasks specified, then you don’t qualify for it. It’s a very specific benefits to help when people are unable to perform basic daily tasks without help, rather than a financial compensation for being unwell. There’s a page on facebook called fight back who will help with form completion and appeals for a small fee
