Appointee letter late WORRIER

Hi all - long story short. The lady who previously owned my house stopped by last month to collect any mail. I was out. Daughter didn’t understand and handed the lady all our mail. Lady is elderly and didn’t realise. Her daughter knocked today to hand back two of our letters …. Turns out one was the DLA to PIP which should have been sent back about 10 days ago!!!

This is for said daughter who didn’t understand the request ….

What will happen? Will they say I now can’t be appointee? No way can my daughter handle her own claim and the money if awarded again.

I’m sending it today recorded delivery but I am STRESSED about this!

Thoughts please?

Is this the PIP2 form where your describe what D can/cannot do against each of the PIP activities?

Give PIP a call and explain what has happened. Ask for an extension of time to return it. They're usually fairly good about that.

At the same time ask them about Appointeeship. I don't think you'll lose Appointment over a cock up like this. If they've seen D and assessed her as being unable to do the benefits stuff herself then sacking the appointee isn't really an option.

Hi no it’s actually the initial form you fill in to state you need to be the child’s appointee. I’ve not yet had the actual descriptors form to apply for PIP for her as she’s not yet 16 but about to be. The appointee letter stated it needed to be returned by a set date and if it was not, it would be assumed that an appointee was not needed. It is - it really is which is why I was worried.

It is ok though. I followed your advice and called. They noted what had happened and said it ‘should’ be fine!
