Average price now just 2% below all-time high of mid-2022!

It was always going to be thus. I know mumsnet was full of posts of people not buying because they were expecting a “crash”. There isn’t going to be one and they will have sadly lost out.

Even high interest rates aren’t enough to push prices down by any meaningful amount. There’s always a bit of up and down but even 10% makes fuck all difference. Yet still some people think that £500k homes are going to one day be worth £250k and they will get some kind of bargain. They won’t.

Kitkat1523 · 30/09/2024 09:32

Prices Have increased by massively where I live in NW …..they are worth more than they were in 2222

ForgettingMeNot · 30/09/2024 09:49

I want them to crash. I'm on the ladder so any crash will be relative to what I may move into in the future but I feel it's the only way kids will ever get on the property ladder

Having said that, it would cause a monumental financial disaster in this country but can prices keep going up like this!

Nannyfannybanny · 30/09/2024 09:51

I live in a popular SE UK area, I am shocked at the low prices of properties near me, they seem to have dropped by about 50k this year.

Chowtime · 30/09/2024 10:11

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

In the long term, property prices always increase.

Won’t happen.

The financial crisis was as bad as it got - down 18% and then bounced on monetary easing.

My area as well.

I live a popular SE commuter town. Honestly houses fly off the shelf. Only things taking any length of time are flats and mansions. Everything else is sold in days
