UC 2 monthly pay days in one assessment period

Hi,

I foolishy started my UC claim close to my payday a few months ago and now I think I’m going to have two monthly pay days in one assessment period due to non banking days.
I’ve seen things online about being paid 4 weekly and that affecting your UC, but am I able to do anything about it with being paid monthly?

TIA

This happened to me and it just meant one month I didn't get anything and the next month I got it backdated. I don't know how they work it out but it's not easy to make sense of. You could try calling them and explaining or putting a note in your journal.

Yes, you can ask for them to open an RTI dispute and ask for one payment to be moved into another assessment period.

It's the date your employer reports your wages to HMRC that counts, not the day the money hits your account. Your employer should report the date your payment is due rather than the date it hits your bank account.

Thank you, do you know if that a retroactive thing or can I tell them in advance so it doesn’t affect the payment?

Your employer should be following HMRC guidance and reporting your earnings as being for the correct date, even if they get paid earlier due to non-banking days.

It happens to me all the time, first time I told them they sad it was fine and I got paid £800+ UC (I should only receive £100) the following month as it looked like I hadn't received my wages and a work coach call, where we had to go through all the questions that. I Was indeed in paid work etc. had to contact them on the journal again and they said it was fine that money was mine to spend

Then it happened again so I contacted them again, told them I'd been paid twice in one assessment period again told it was fine got paid the £800+ UC again, finally someone on my journal picked it up that knew what they were doing, and said that no I should not have received £1600 UC in those months and then they deduct it from future payments. I still tell them when it happens but if the money goes in my account treat it as a 0% loan between me and the UC people.
