Claiming on credit card and impact on seller

I used a credit card to pay a deposit for goods/service several months ago. It’s a small local family business and the owner has now had a major illness. Shop shut, website down, although company still active per companies house.

I’ve been trying to leave it a while without chasing them (emails aren’t replied to in any case). I can’t imagine they’ve any money left unless they were insured.

I started the dispute claim on the credit card but got stuck on a few questions, eg because I can’t prove they are refusing to provide the goods/service (because there is simply no communication).

But I’m mostly concerned about how the credit card company then follows it up with the company - anyone know what action they take? I don’t want to cause the family more stress, I could leave it a couple of months more before making the credit card claim (though I’d rather not).

Barclaycard, it says can wait a year before claiming. It’s been a few months already.
