Contributory based jsa and working

My DC has just been made redundant. We think they are entitled to contributory based JSA based on NI record. They won’t be entitled to any support that is means tested until their savings are considerably depleted.

They have the opportunity of working in a Xmas job they used to do whilst they were at school (5 years ago). This is a very part time role (only weekends). I think this means they will pretty much receive no benefit from working because their JSA will reduce £ for £ for every £ they earn. That’s fine. But what I wondered is does anyone know if the length of time you can claim contributory based jsa is extended if you work for a bit in the middle of the claim period?

Thanks!
