So.. I sorted out the tax free childcare expecting to meet the criteria as I had a job offer. It's now been rescinded. What do I do??

Let the government department know of your change in circumstances, the same way you informed them of your job offer.

You have to reconfirm every three months. So in three months, answer the reconfirmation honestly (eg you haven’t been in work the entire previous 3 months).

In the meantime, don’t claim the tax-free childcare. It’s a whole process where you transfer 80% of the fees to the gov website, and gov tops up the 20%, before you transfer to nursery. So don’t do this. Instead, pay nursery directly.

Yeah give them a bell on Monday. The key is not to let it drag on. Would be great if you got another role in the future, but let them know as soon as you can.

Thank you

No worries, sending you all good vibes for a new job offer soon too.

Ted22 · 30/08/2024 22:36

I don’t know if you should have done the money through the website already if you hadn’t actually started the job yet? That might be your mistake. If you did start the job, then it’ll be fine.

I’ve had to phone them a couple of times before, and they’re always really friendly and helpful.

@Ted22 yes I think it was. It said did I expect to earn a certain amount and I did. Only now I won't!
