I think that's every 4 weeks.

You should start by checking if you are paid monthly or 4 weekly.

When you make a claim for UC your tax credit entitlement will stop on that day and be aware there will be some time whilst your claim is processed / moved over to UC before your next payment for UC comes through. UC is paid monthly not weekly like tax credits. That's why its important to think about what day is best to apply but you must apply before the deadline given on the letter you received about moving over to UC.

The entitled to calculator will be the most accurate way to get a true indicator of how much you’ll get.

I am paid every 4 weeks and so once a year I get two wages and little to no wage. You can't avoid it but just put a tiny bit aside to cover the lack of UC.

You can ask for an advance payment but I'm pretty sure its classed as a loan and you will have to pay it back. Your UC claim will run from the date you make the claim and it could be several weeks before you get payment but you don't actually lose any money. You will have on online account where you manage your UC claim, see what your payment will be, report any changes, ask any questions etc. You will also be given an appointment at your local job centre to see an advisor to go through everything, dont worry about that nothing scary, very helpful.

Contact Citizens Advice's Help to Claim team www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/helptoclaim/

They can help with all questions relating to migration to UC. Make sure you have accurate info about your current TC award to hand. If you have any TC overpayments, repayments will automatically be taken from your UC award.

HTC advisers are trained to give advice about migration, your local Citizens Advice or other advice service office will probably not be.
