Holiday saving

We are planning a big family trip in 5 years (I know it’s a long way away!) to celebrate various birthdays/anniversaries. I’ve started saving now but looking for little ways I can make a bit of money that would add up over the years. I’m already selling on vinted, using cash back sites and saving a set amount each month. If anyone has any ideas for how to make little amounts of money, that would be great please!

My mum and her friends who holiday together all save for holidays by buying premium bonds every month - they then “reinvest” any winnings u til such time as they need to withdraw the money to pay for the holiday. It’s completely risk free and you might be able to boost the pot by winning each month

Does your bank account have a ‘round up’ option? Technically not a way to make more money I know 😂 But my Monzo is set to round up every spend to the next pound, and shuffles the difference into a specific saving pot. Great way to save without realising!

Find an account with a good interest rate for starters...budget budget budget! Some banks have a round up or save the change option too.

Is it possible to do a job one evening a week, or at the weekend, to put into savings ?

Bar work / shop work / babysitting / cafe or restaurant work / etc ?

I'd love some ideas too. Really looking to maximise money available for holidays by bring frugle elsewhere.
I do try and sell stuff on marketplace if I can but too lazy to do vinted etc.

surveys via yougov, only about 1-2 surveys a week but you always get paid for every survey also extra for a history of your youtube netflix and amazon account
it's about 50p per survey and with the extras i tend to get 2 or 3 x £50 a year
unlike many other surveys companies you don't get half way through and them decide you don't fit the criteria

but selling stuff on ebay vinted marketplace when finished with is good too for extra £ not big money generally it all adds up

remember everyone has a tax free trading allowance of £1000 a year roughly £20 a week so a bit of babysitting dog walking etc. ( the £1000 is gross income not £1000 - expenses) if it is £1001 it becomes taxable

selling on ebay rarely counts as it is very seldom you sell anything for more than you originally paid for it also selling your own goods doesn't count anyway but if you buy a nice vase from car boot for £3 and sell it for £10 that is £10 of your trading allowance not £7

Review your entire budget. If you're currently overspending in other areas, cut these out/down and it will free up more money to save towards your holidays.

Look at the budgeting advice on Moneysaving Expert and do everything that's relevant.
