Local govt pension question

I am still working but got my state pension at Easter. I have a small pension from my late husband who was in the RAF. I do pay a wack of tax on my wages but I accept that - my work in a school in admin keeps me going. I have had a projection of my local government pension today - £9000 lump sum and £10000 a year pension. I just wondered how much this would equate to monthly.

£10,000 a year pension would be £833 a month gross (less any tax you might pay)

Just wondering @Pensionpotty, did you consider deferring your State Pension as you were still working? This would have increased your pension amount when you did take it and decreased the amount of Income Tax.

Sounds like your state pension will use up your personal allowance so tax will be at your marginal rate. I think you might not have to pay NI though, now you are at retirement age. That'll help.

Thanks for answering - I didn’t think of deferring my state pension because I wasn’t going to carry on working but after my husband died I just thought I’d stay for another year or two . I think it would be too late and too much hassle to do it now. I am still better off each month . I don’t pay NI . It was I couldn’t work in my head how much I would get from my work pension - all your answers have helped.
